Program Design & Format
Built with partners who know the job from the inside.
The First Responders Resiliency Program (FRRP) was shaped through sustained collaboration with first responder leaders, clinicians, and participants.
Our partners are program co-designers, because it has to be workable in the real world, not just on paper:
We adapt the FRRP based on what participants tell us—what works, and what doesn’t.
We aim for cultural fit, including respectful pacing, practical language, and peer-driven learning.
We develop and manage the program with our partners over time, continuously improving it.
How the program works:
Self-directed: First responders and their employee union/association design the program and fund it themselves (WCB approval not required)
Clinician-led: FRRP is delivered by trained clinicians with a strong understanding of first responder context.
Small group participation: Trust is formed and skills are practiced amongst a group of 8-12 peers
Residential format: The program takes place in a natural, contained environment beyond everyday operations and routines
Practical tools: Beyond discussion, FRRP is an opportunity for a full reset—participants learn emotional regulation stress reduction skills, gain communication tools, and develop a personal resilience plan.
